Here is an open source robot designed with researchers in mind. The Reachy 2 is a bimanual mobile manipulator that can be teleoperated and controlled with Python. It runs on ROS2 Foxy. It has 7 DOF arms with 3kg capacity, so it can lift and manipulate various objects. You can get this with a mobile base to move in all directions. It has a cylindrical structure with LiDAR and other sensors.
